- WHAT MAKES IT GOOD ?
There's a clear classic style that Vans have kept since the beginning with very little change at all. The fact that a skate shoe was made for a purpose and carried on doing what it was made for is brilliant. You won't find that in most skate companies at all.
Old ad. Wish I could find out the date. Still the same though, nothing changed.
- WHO WOULD FIND IT GOOD ?
Honestly, skateboarders find it good. Amongst the obvious answer though, there does seem to be a multi-purpose shoe developed. A lot of bands have worn these shoes throughout a number of years. Even now there is a new 'hipster' trend going around and Vans once again seem to be the main priority. Got to love Vans for sure.
Massive UK hardcore band at the moment. They're putting Vans too good use, again.
- WHO WOULDN'T FIND IT GOOD ?
I don't think massive corporations who employ hundreds of suited and booted executives would appreciate the value of Vans. Amongst the youth, there is a relation between skateboarders being trouble makers. Obviously this is far from the truth. They wouldn't buy into a product like a Vans shoe, unless they are skateboarders themselves. Their lifestyle just wouldn't fit the product at all.
Currently at the top of Fortune 500 in America. Creating a massive enterprise.
- WHAT IS IT BETTER THAN ? (WHY?)
Supra's. Although they do mike some sweet shoes, they just don't wear well at all. They do not perform well in the skateboarding community as they fall apart after a short while. This isn't a cost effective way of skateboarding at all. You would normally expect a higher price to bring you better quality, but for some reason or another, supra's shoes do not succeed or fulfil the audience requirments.
Vans do perform.
- IF YOUR GOOD WAS A PROFESSION, WHAT WOULD IT BE ?
It would have be a watchmaker, the kind of craftsmen that create a timeless piece with the same method of engineering again and again. Rotary watches, that really on a mechanism inside to keep the hands ticking. In comparison, the Vans classic shoe has been crafted year after year, exactly the same. Why change something that is already good ?
Swish.
- IF YOUR GOOD WAS A CELEBRITY, WHO WOULD IT BE ?
As far as interpreting my 'good' as a person. Roger Moore would definitely be in place for this option. The classic style. Obviously you mus know he was James Bond once and there is an important role to play whilst being that character. Being classic, sophisticated, clean cut and durable. He fits the bill perfectly.
Classic.
- IF YOUR GOOD WAS A PLACE, WHERE WOULD IT BE ?
Bowl. This has to be the best place Vans could actually be. Without skate bowls, Vans as a company would not be able to expand into a world wide brand, influencing the art of skateboarding wherever it went. Steve 'Cab' Caballero and Tony alva a like, gave the company they're most famous copy write '' Off the Wall''. They pioneered the shoes and named them with such a massively appreciated term, allowed the company to be formed as a brand.
Boneless. SK8-HI
- IF YOUR GOOD WAS AN EVENT, WHAT WOULD IT BE ?
Hardcore gigs. As I've mentioned before Vans as a style across the hardcore music seen is massively influential. There just seems to be that association with skateboarding and hardcore punk music, the act of being rebellious has seemed to be carried throughout the Vans history. It's a massively important piece of foot wear across the scene, they have that style that seems to compliment the fashion of this genre of music perfectly. They look accustomed to the audience. Vans were made from this.
Boston hardcore.
- IF YOUR GOOD WAS A PRODUCT, WHAT WOULD IT BE ?
Well this seems to be the most difficult question to answer. My good is already a product. It's shoe. Although this doesn't mean they are only a product. Vans are a company, the product of their industry are mainly made up of shoes. From this I can use the company as a product in order to interpret my choice. The Louvre for example is a classic place in the art world, for it's landmark museum. It dates back to the 12th century, where it began to form into a museum. in 1793 the place finally opened as a museum displaying 537 paintings, it now has over 50,000 pieces. A classic place that has continued to be successful across time.
