Visual Language: Type, Grid and Layout

For our first session with Lorenzo we spent time going over layouts of newspapers and magazines to see how grids build up and break down into sections, to create the page design. I found this really useful information as we went through kerning, tracking, height, weight, spacing and positioning. All of these elements can effect the way a page looks visually and how it communicates towards people.

Our task was to take this newly found knowledge and apply it to a page spread of our choice and start repositioning the key elements, to create appropriate thumbnail sketches.
